Categories of International Horticultural Expositions:A1 and A2
International Organizations: AIPH and BIE 2016-03-25

1.A1: large-scaleInternational Horticultural Exposition

Frequency: less than once a year; any country should not hold more than once every ten years; frequencyof A1 exposition shouldbe negotiated with BIE.

Duration: 3-6 months.

Bid: 7 years ahead.

Special regulations: all fields within horticulture should be coveredin A1 exposition. Exhibition area should be no less than 50 hectare,among whichbuilding area should be less than 10% (exclude indoor exhibition hall); no less than 5% area is for exhibitors having full exhibition; no less than 10 countriesattend.

Deposit: 25,000 euro.

Registered at BIE. Thelarge-scale expo must be registered at Paris’ BIE andshould satisfy BIE’s relevant prerequisites.

Beforethebidding country’sgovernment appliesfor registration,AIPH member organizations should apply to AIPH first and gain its recognition.

Bidding countries should give a copied registration form, which is submitted to BIE, to AIPH.

2.A2:International Horticultural Exposition

A2 and B1 can be held together. Prerequisites are applicable to both categories. Deposit is the sum of these two categories’.

Frequency: less thantwice a year; if there are two A2 expositions within a year in the same continent, the interval between their opening ceremonies should be no less than 3 months; no overlap of holding time of category A2 with opening ceremony, major exhibition period and closing ceremony of A1 or B1; if two A2 exhibitions are held in different continents, the interval should not be less than 3 weeks between the closing ceremony of the former and the opening ceremony of the latter.

Duration: 8-20 days.

Bid: 5 years ahead.

Special regulations: exhibition area should not be less than 15,000square meters(the total area), among which 2,000square metersis for foreign exhibitors; no less than 6 countriesattend.

Deposit: 10,000 euro.

3.B1: National exhibition of long duration (including foreign participations)

B1 and A2 can be held together. Prerequisites are applicable to both categories. Deposit is the sum of these two categories’.

Frequency: less than once a year; exception can be giveniftwo cities from different hemispherebid for the exposition at the same time,or the interval between these two expositions is long enough tomaketheirexpected exhibitors and visitorsunaffectedafter negotiating with all related parties.

Duration: 3-6 months.

Bid: 4 years ahead.

Special regulations: exhibition area should not be less than 25 hectare, among which at least 3% is for foreign exhibitors.

Deposit: 5,000 euro.

4.B2: national exhibition of short duration (including foreign participations)

Frequency: less than twice a year; B2’s holding time should not overlap withA1’s, B1’s and A2’s only if they give a nod after negotiation.

Duration: 8-20 days.

Bid: 3 years ahead.

Special regulations: exhibition area should not be less than 6,000square meters, among which at least 600square metersis for foreign exhibitors.

Deposit: 2,500 euro.
